I don’t know how Evanovich does it — not a lot of variety in her setting and situations — but she still has me reading and laughing out loud. This one — and, if you haven’t read one before, stop now and start with the with the beginning of the series thirteen books back (One for the Money) — involves Stephanie, still juggling her two hunky love interests, a weirdly pitiful stalker, an over-age diva, a stoner/cyber-addict, a depressed teen with a penchant for tagging, plus her family (including the always interesting Grandma Mazur). Oh, and a body in the basement, toes in the freezer and the requisite explosions. Depressed? Take two Evanoviches and settle in for a good read. If you can get through one of Stephanie Plum’s adventures without at least one belly-laugh, get yourself to a psychiatrist and get yourself some meds. Why don’t they make movies out of books like these? I’d cast Sandra Bullock as Stephanie and Duane “The Rock” Johnson as Ranger — I still haven’t decided on Joe Morelli but I’m thinking Queen Latifah for Lulu if she’d be willing to gain some major pounds.
