About us

Sugar, thanks for asking. The Redbud Book Club is a public service from the Edmond Redbud Queens, an official chapter of the Sweet Potato Queens of America. A little bit about each of the Queens, Princes, and Court Jesters who are participating for your literary pleasure is included here. Now, if you think your blood may be of the blue persuasion, you have impeccable taste in books or at least trashy fiction, and fancy seeing your name in pink print, send a fancy email to Queen Zoe about becoming a Redbud Book Reviewer.
Queen Zoe
Queen Zoe prefers science fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction, so she’ll usually be waxing lyrical about these tomes. Despite being raised an Okie, she currently holds court a full quarter of the world away, in a place where the title “Queen” really means something.

Queen Elaine
Queen Elaine loves a good mainstream novel, especially historical, hysterical, or mysterious. She also loves anything to do with travel, something she does quite often in her day job as a travel writer. You can read more about Elaine at her blog.

Prince Simon is a bit camera-shy, and his Queen may have actually neglected to mention that she’s borrowing his DVD reviews from his blog …
Prince Jack reads mysteries and detective novels. Pretty much exclusively. And voraciously.
The Redbud Queens would like to introduce their good friends from the Sisterhood of the Travelling Damenfest:
Lady Emily is a charter member of the Damenfest and serves as their Purveyor of Insanity. Amongst her favourite authors are Anne McCaffrey before collaborations, Harlan Ellison for his delicious sarcasm, Robert Anton Wilson before he went totally insane, and Douglas Adams because who doesn’t love Douglas Adams. Emily is a travel writer, but will admit to panicking a lot and not always remembering where her towel is. Queen Zoe is trying to get her to read some Discworld. A long-time fan of Mad Magazine and The Simpsons (if you’re reading this, Matt, she would be available to write an episode or three), Lady Emily is the author of the still unpublished Bad Housekeepers’ Cookbook, with such recipes as “Grounds for Divorce Coffee,” and “Baked Stuffed Vacuum Cleaner Bag.” She has recently been described as “as radiant and lovely as Boticelli’s Venus, Zephyr-blown and newly born of sea foam.”
Lady Libba will be joining us soon with a review and a biography. Stay tuned!
